ASUS P526

The Asus P526 is a new mobile communication device from ASUS. The P526 is to be powered by Windows Mobile 6 Professional and has built-in Sat-Nav (Software not included).

The ASUS P526 Window Mobiel 6 Smartphone is functional and attractive. Its one of the slimmer and lighter smartphones on the market. Its grey plastic chassis is chrome-trimmed and the numeric keypad is early to see and use.

Windows soft keys and the scroll wheel are great for quick access to applications. The pick-up/hang-up combination, short cut buttons for the Windows Start menu and a button to access the Voice Commander software ensure quick access. The task switch button allows you to cycle quickly through open applications.

Windows Mobile 6 Professional is Asus’s operating system of choice for the P526. This includes a viewer for the common office applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat PDFs. The Bluetooth v1.2 hardware integral to the P526 also supports the Bluetooth Presenter application, enabling you to control presentations being shown through a laptop computer.

With the P526’s GPS capability, Asus reached out and took arguably the best chipset available, the SiRFstar III. Basic velocity and location are available immediately, but Asus do not include Map software with the P526. This allows the price to be kept down for their customers who do not need the GPS functionality, plus gives freedom of choice to the people who will use it, allowing them to install the Map software they already own, or choose the one that suits them best.
