GlobalSat DG-100 is a GPS data logger (Route Logger) that records track data from the received GPS signal. With a GPS logger and antenna built in a miniature construction, DG-100 features an all-in-one, cost-effective GPS logger solution. The DG-100 records time, date, speed, altitude and GPS location at preset intervals. Based on the SiRF star III chipset, DG-100 offers accurate position tracking capabilities.
In basic terms the Globalsat DG100 GPS Logger is a travel recorder and route logger that allows you to record exactly where you (or someone else) has travelled. For example you can see where they went and how long they were there for.
The Globalsat DG-100 is the first dedicated SiRFstarIII data logger to rely on the most powerful GPS chipset available. Many users have been waiting for such a GPS data logger to appear since the first SiRFstarIII receivers came out in early 2005 as they typically get used in unfavourable environments (in a backpack, glove box, clipped to a belt, etc...) so the higher the sensitivity the better.
All recorded GPS information can be downloaded to the computer. It is a convenient, economical way for later review of your recorded histories. Simply connect the DG-100 GPS Logger to your PC or Notebook, and then download the track-log to your PC for use with Windows based software utility. Users can easily export the recorded points to Google Earth or Google Maps to view the data. It is ideal application in fleet management, marine navigational aids, traveling and consumer personal use. You also can use the GlobalSat DG-100 as an USB GPS mouse on a PC or laptop.
The DG-100 data logger looks like a small box and feels quite light. The USB connector (held into place by a small magnet) doubles up as a data link and a battery recharger. A USB extender is bundled in the box as well. It's convenient to be able to rely on USB for all operations and is pleasantly surprising to see that it could recharge the two 2500mAh batteries that power the GlobalSat DG-100. On testing when will logging data every 10 seconds the GlobalSat DG100 logged for 37 hours using up 21% of the memory, so it's safe to say the logging frequency has no impact on overall battery life.
In the back you can screw on a small clip that will let you wear the DG-100 GPS Logger (Route Logger) on your belt or clipped to a backpack. It sports an MMCX external connector too, that would come in handy if you need to place it in a spot with no view of the sky.
Why not add a USB extention cable to allow full connectivity no matter whereabouts your work station is:
